BranchOut! was proud to participate in the 3rd Annual Civic Expo hosted by Burlington Buzz in partnership with the Town of Burlington at Burlington High School. This free, family-friendly event brought together town departments, boards, commissions, and local nonprofits — all under one roof — giving residents a behind-the-scenes look at how Burlington operates and how each of us can play a role in strengthening our community. And that’s exactly what BranchOut! is about.
Why the Civic Expo Matters to Us
At BranchOut!, we believe that leadership begins with awareness — awareness of your community, your responsibilities, and your opportunities to make an impact. The Civic Expo is more than an event. It is:
A living classroom
A real-world leadership lab
A space where curiosity meets civic engagement
Families walked from booth to booth, meeting the people who provide essential town services. Students asked questions about how decisions are made. Residents discovered programs and resources they didn’t even know existed.
These are the moments where civic understanding begins.
Conversations That Sparked Something Bigger
Throughout the evening, we had the joy of meeting:
Parents looking for meaningful enrichment opportunities for their children
Students curious about STEM education, leadership, deep thinking, and academic growth
Community members eager to support youth development initiatives
We shared how BranchOut! helps students:
Develop critical and independent thinking
Explore big ideas with depth
Build confidence in communication and leadership
Connect their learning to real-world issues
Several families shared how refreshing it was to see an organization focused not just on achievement, but on thoughtful growth. That meant everything to us.
Modeling Civic Engagement for the Next Generation
When young people see nonprofits, educators, and town leaders collaborating, they learn something powerful: Community is not built by accident. It is built by participation.
Events like the Civic Expo show students that leadership doesn’t start “someday.” It starts now — with curiosity, conversation, and contribution. We are grateful to Burlington Buzz and the Town of Burlington for creating a space where organizations like BranchOut! can connect directly with the community we serve.
We’re Just Getting Started
If you stopped by our booth, thank you. If you missed us, we would love to connect.
BranchOut! exists to help students think deeply, lead thoughtfully, and engage meaningfully. The Civic Expo reminded us why that mission matters — not just for individual students, but for the entire community.
Here’s to building a Burlington full of thinkers, leaders, and engaged citizens.
