Howard County Chapter
Howard County, Maryland
In collaboration with the Howard County Chinese School, BranchOut!'s Howard County (HoCo) Chapter was formed in 2019. Under the leadership of HoCo Chapter leads and the support of board of directors from HCCS, the chapter has expanded quickly and is now a partner of the Howard County Public School System to provide a variety of tutoring services as a way to give back to the community.

All HoCo programs are in-person except for Howard County Autism Society tutoring.

Non-HoCo students are welcome to join any of the HoCo chapter programs. Transportation is not provided.

Summer Programs
HCPSS: Black Students Achievement Program (BSAP)

Program offers acceleration and enrichment opportunities for HCPSS students entering Grades K-9
-
Students participate in academic courses and in a wide range of enrichment opportunities (journalism, engineering, martial arts, and more)

Program runs 7 weeks (800+ students enrolled)

10 BO mentors contributed 500+ hours, helping teachers prepare teaching materials & support students 1 on 1
HCPSS: Middle School Math Advancement

The MS Math Advancement Summer Tutoring Program offers math acceleration and enrichment opportunities for HCPSS middle school students

BO students mentored students to enhance student ability in math courses and skills

During the 4 weeks of the program, 10 BO mentors contributed 350+ hours
HCPSS: Extended School Year Academic Intervention (ESY)

Special education instruction in reading/written language/ math and related and support services

Supporting K-7 students seeking extra help in academic curriculum

Providing assistance and services for Special education instruction in reading/written language/ math and related and support services.
HCPSS: Innovative Pathways Credit Recovery

The program is for students entering Grade 9 and current Grades 9-12

Year-Round Programs
HCPSS: BSAP Saturday Math Academy

Program runs Saturdays mornings during Fall and Spring semesters.

Students grade 3-12 participate in math instruction & enrichments (chess, coding, STEM, choir, etc.)

8 BO mentors volunteering during Fall semester

Help prepare teaching materials & provide 1 on 1 guidance during classes
Howard County Autism Society
Starting in 2020, BranchOut!'s Howard County Chapter has partnered with Howard County Autism Society (HCAS) to provide tutoring support to its students. This is a virtual program. To learn more, click here.
