Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:

I am currently a freshman in the magnet IB program at Richard Montgomery High School. I’m interested in becoming a mentor because I’ve always loved working with kids - even before I was old enough to be a volunteer, I always helped with the neighbors’ younger kids. I began working with kids the summer between 5th and 6th grade, realized I really enjoyed it, and have been doing so ever since with WCFC summer camp, Piano Pals, and Generation Z tutoring. It’s a very fulfilling experience, and seeing the kids you work with learn and blossom with your help is incredibly gratifying. Being a mentor for BranchOut! would also be a great chance to help underprivileged children in the area. As someone who grew up in a well-off neighborhood and had all the resources I needed, I realize that other children may have just as much or more potential as the people I grew up with, but haven’t been able to fully reach that simply because of chance that didn’t give them the same kind of opportunities. Being able to help these kids realize their potential would be a wonderful experience.
