I have previous tutoring experience in teaching chess to younger students. When I was in 8th and 9th grade, I used to teach chess to people on the weekend with another friend of mine. The grades of the students ranged from around 3rd grade to 6th grade. I also tutored students that were struggling in math during the summer last year. The students were in the 5th grade.

Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus

When will you be able to participate and volunteer in the program?

Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:

Hi, my name is Tristan and I am currently a sophomore at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. I am interested in becoming a mentor for Branch Out! because I think it would be a great learning opportunity for me. By tutoring people, I would become more comfortable working with others, while also gaining a better understanding of the material that I would be tutoring in. I am also interested in becoming a mentor because I know that the people that I will be working with will be from different races and ethnicities, and a diverse group of people is certainly something that I do not see at the typical “TJ bubble”. A diverse group of people including intellectual diversity would not only benefit me in school but also prepare me for real-life situations later in work and life.
