Describe your tutoring experience if you have any:

In the past, although I have not specifically tutored kids, I did help mentor an event for Science Olympiad. After participating in the event--which pertains to forensic science--for three years and placing 2nd nationally in it, I felt that I should pass on my knowledge and advice to the next couple students who would be competing in the event.
So, in 9th grade, I guided and taught four middle school kids (7th and 8th graders), and it was a thrill to see their passion for this event grow to be just as strong as mine was. They strived to do well not only for themselves, but also for me and the team, and they ended up placing 4th nationally. It brought me joy to work with them, as I was able to share my enthusiasm with them and leave a positive impact on their lives.

Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:

As an outgoing person who has always loved working with others, I found the opportunity that BranchOut! offers to be appealing. I am now a sophomore in high school, and I have mentored students and taken leadership in past experiences. However, I believe that becoming a mentor for BranchOut! would not only allow me to further enhance my leadership and communication skills, but also connect with kids on an intellectual and emotional level.

I would love to teach kids and promote interest in STEM fields, as well as gain a new experience for myself to grow from. It is empowering to help others and serve as a guide for students who are eager to learn and discover more about the world. I believe that participating in this program will leave a positive impact on both my life and the students’, because through sharing ideas and energizing each other, we are all striving for excellence together.
