Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:
My name is Songhan Pang, a ninth grader at McLean High School. Before moving to McLean last summer, I received education in Florida for three years, and in Rhode Island for eight. My love for music began in fourth grade, and has followed me ever since. I play violin in the AYSO orchestra, and oboe in school band. My other hobbies include running, drawing, and debating about subjects I have a passion for.
I was looking for a chance to further widen my experience scope, while also being able to assist others. BranchOut! was the perfect opportunity. A key component that the program offers is the chance to work with students of different cultural backgrounds. This immediately piqued my interest. As an avid learner who is curious about the world, I aim to improve my communication and leadership skills. Being exposed to cultures that are different from my own would be a crucial step in my goal.
I am eternally grateful for the people that helped me get where I am today. For this reason, I wish to become a mentor in BranchOut! and be the one that inspires the younger generation, just as my mentors have inspired me.
