Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:
I'm Michelle Du, and I’m a rising sophomore at TJHSST. From a young age, I’ve always loved science and the humanities, and I really want to help young kids realize how fascinating those subjects are. I currently participate in policy debate and attend some science clubs at TJ, like Bio Olympiad. In middle school, I participated in Science Olympiad both years, where I attended Nationals twice (we placed in the top 10 ten both years). In relation to BranchOut, I'm interested because I really want to help kids that might not have other resources or teachers who can help them. I have always enjoyed working with dedicated and interested students, and I love the smiles on their faces when they finally grasp a difficult concept or a light bulb goes off their mind. These kids have bright minds that are fun to work with and I would love to encourage their creativity and critical thinking, as well as help them find and pursue their passions.
