Describe your tutoring experience if you have any:

Over the summer of 2017-2018, I coached a 9 year old fourth grader in swimming. He had very little prior experience and made tremendous improvements in a span of 1 month. This was my first "real world" teaching opportunity and I found it to be an enlightening experience where I learned how to teach and how to patiently overcome issues.

What subjects can you confidently tutor?

Algebra I, English/Language Arts, Technology

When will you be able to participate and volunteer in the program?

6/24 - 6/28, 7/15 - 7/19, 7/22 - 7/26

Cumulative Weighted GPA:

Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:

My name is Leo and I am a 9th grader at Langley High School. My favorite school subjects include history, math, English, and political science. I also swim for The Fish swim team as well as Langley Swim and Dive. Additionally, I am a proud member of Langley's Model United Nations club which is considered to be one of the best high school teams in America. I am interested in participating in the BranchOut! program because when I was younger I frequently needed academic help and found it through academic enrichment programs. I personally know how academic programs are incredibly beneficial and can have lasting impressions on students for years. As somebody who has personally benefited from academic enrichment courses, I believe that I can help other less fortunate students achieve their academic goals and dreams.
