Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:
Hello! My name is Kyra Lee, and I’m a rising senior at Woodson High School. I am self taught in Unity and c#, specifically the VR/AR aspect, and I am also proficient in Java. I have used these skills to create programs that have placed at regional level science fairs and have gained recognition from organizations such as NASA and SWE. The opportunities awarded to me due to my programming proficiency have been extremely rewarding, and I often wish that someone had taught me the importance of such skills when I was younger. Thus, I believe teaching children the value of programming through Branch Out! in an appealing manner is important to opening doors for them, in addition to sparking interest in such relevant emerging technology. By helping students realize that their cultural backgrounds do not limit their access to success, I can show students their potential, through engaging and interesting teaching. I am passionate about contributing to an entertaining educational environment, no matter the subject, and I hope to instill a similar amount of passion for learning in the students.
