Describe your tutoring experience if you have any:

In the summer before freshman year, I volunteered to teach dance at my childhood dance studio, the East Dance School. Here I worked for two months with assisting the teacher helping younger dancers work on their technique and teaching my own choreography. I returned to do this the next summer, between freshman and sophomore year. Furthermore, I also participated in Branchout! at the James Lee Comunity Center, which genuinely was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. During the school year of freshman and sophomore year, I volunteered at my local Chinese School -Hope- every weekend and tutored students in math, English, and Chinese.

What subjects can you confidently tutor?

Biology, Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, English/Language Arts, Chinese, Technology

When will you be able to participate and volunteer in the program?

7/15 - 7/19

Cumulative Weighted GPA:

4.5

Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:

My first year of Branchout! was such an amazingly fulfilling experience. Branchout! was such an ideal program, because not only was I able to give back to the community, but it was through a way that spreads my passions for STEM, my beliefs in a strong education, and sets up the mentees for success in the future. Being a tutor was an extremely positive experience for both the tutor and the student. Branchout! helped to foster connections with the students, and also other tutors, friendships that still hold today. I will never forget the way Milike from JLCC's eyes lit up when she saw the makeshift volcano, and when we hugged each other afterward. I hope to return every year that I am eligible to continue spreading a passion for STEM, providing a strong educational base for underprivileged students, ensuring other mentors are doing they're job to the best of their ability and doing my part in giving back to the community that gives me so much.
