Briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in becoming a mentor for BranchOut!:
Upon entering the 9th grade this year, I moved back to the Northern Virginia area after a two-year stay in Oregon, and want to find ways to branch out and grow in this community. I've always been interested in academics, and work fairly well with students, so this program stood out to me as a great opportunity to both expand my own skill set and better integrate myself with those around me by giving back. In particular, the BranchOut! program appears to be an excellent environment for further developing my teamwork and communication skills, which I value greatly and always work to improve. Helping other students learn and develop has always felt like a very rewarding experience, and provides an avenue for me to apply my academic skills in the context of real hands-on interaction with others who may benefit from them. Given how the BranchOut! program provides a path for me to fulfill my goals of both reaching out the community and gaining applicable experience in communication, I believe that this represents a perfect opportunity.
